Case study: Toastmasters District 83
One district, finally saying one thing
District 83 runs clubs across northern New Jersey, Rockland, Westchester and Fairfield County. Its channels were quiet and its links were scattered. As District Public Relations Manager, Steven brought every channel, event and page under one message, then rebuilt the website around it.
The new tmd83.org, live since May 2026.

The situation
An established organization that was hard to find
District 83 is part of Toastmasters International. Its clubs meet in towns, offices and campuses across four counties and two states. The training was strong and the people were committed.
Online, it barely showed. The YouTube channel had 12 subscribers. Links lived in a dozen places. The website ran on an outdated system that was hard for district leaders to update and hard to use on a phone.
Before: tm83.org in December 2024, from the Internet Archive.
The perception gap
The district did more than the market could see.
Every club ran its own channels, in its own voice. Members heard about events late or not at all, and people looking for a club found little to tell them why District 83 was worth an evening.
Posting more would not have fixed it. Every channel needed to say the same thing, point to the same place, and make the next step obvious.
The decisions
Five calls that held for the whole year
1
One home for every link
A single link hub on every channel, so every post leads somewhere.
2
Recognition as the content
Celebrate clubs and members by name, and engagement follows the people.
3
Show up where members already are
Meetup, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, and a new TikTok account, all saying the same thing.
4
A website the district can run itself
Easy for leaders to update, mobile first, translated into any language, with an AI assistant for common questions.
5
Teach the clubs to do the same
More than 20 officer training sessions, so each club's public relations lead could carry the message locally.
The identity
Each event gets its own mark, inside the global rules
Toastmasters International sets the master brand. Within it, each district event got a clear identity: Rise To The Challenge for the 2025 conference, and Level Up for 2026. The same district voice carried through the program, the promotions and the merchandise.

The website
A site the district can keep current
The new tmd83.org launched in May 2026. Steven led its design and launch with Tom Somers and Ravi Shankar. It adds full translation, a district store, centralized resources, a responsive layout and an AI assistant, and district leaders can manage it without a developer.
